We got this as a pressie for our dad, and although he did love it, it is NOT a durable plane. It’s made of styrofoam and very cheaply put together. I wouldn’t buy one of these products again for this price. It is way too expensive for the low quality.

ok you cant call this plane bad it dos fly well and fast and the 3-ch remote lets you do cool stunts but the problem starts when you crash because this plane is fast and has a pointy nose it is not as tough as the x-twin plane that have a 2-ch remote the nose gets dirty and the wheels fall off and get lost on the first flight but over all not a bad plane

I Love it!
This is a must have toy for anyone who likes thier toys, i bought it for my 4 year old for his birhtday, thinking he wouldnt be able to use it and “daddy” would have to show him how it worked, but he has mastered the speed control straight away and he isnt to bad with the direction controls, i struggle with direction, but it is very easy to keep it flying in a normal sized room until it starts to run out of power(7-10 mins). once it looses most of its charge it struggles to gain height so is ideal for a novice to take over and start playing around with it, as it wont gain enough height to smash into the ceiling.
Talking of crashing, this happens alot at first and it has held up very well to the numerous ceiling.walls,xmas tree, tinsel, and vertical blind crashes….
I am not sure why this model is dearer than the others, i bought it as i was told it had better stability? i cant confrim this as i havent seen any other in action. but it takes off from any surface and easily takes off from your hand whilst holding the nose section. or just sat on it.

A great buy
I have only had this little helicopter for an hour or two and i love it, even though ive crashed it. It is easy to control but takes a little time to get used to, the trim buttons are proving too awkward, but i would highly recommend this as a gift to anyone or just for yourself. My only concern is that my cat might kill it or it might kill my cat. I had a larger r/c helicopter a couple of years ago and it was fragile and broke within the first half hour of use, whereas the picooZ apache is light and feels flimsy but is durable. An overall good buy. (im getting another one!)

Fragile…
I got this helicopter for my birthday and at first it seemed very cool. It would fly around (very haphazardly) and often bump into walls and furniture.

To solve this problem I took it out to a field to play with. At first it wouldn’t start unless I got the control very close to it first and when I did get it flying it went out of control and rose for about 10 meters in the totally wrong direction and then suddenly gave up and dropped like a brick. The tail was broken (surprise, surprise, given how stupidly thin it was!) although was later fixed by sellotape.

It takes much to long to charge (30 minutes charging for 5 minutes play?!) and when it does get flying it always, and I mean ALWAYS spins left. It’s supposed to be able to hover okayishly but just ends up spinning anticlockwise and bumping into things. I cannot seem to remedy this problem using what little control the controller has to offer. The ST. TRIM function does a good job of being useless and the helicopter itself is far too brittle.

I would advise you to stay away from this wretched thing. It doesn’t do what it’s supposed to to and should only be used by professional toy helicopter pilots. Get one that is more durable and easier for a beginner to fly, because this one is a bugger to even get to point in one damn direction.

Summary: Unless you’re experienced, don’t buy this ‘copter.

Loads of fun!!
I bought the Apache helicopter for my boyfriends birthday and he loved it. we both found that it takes a bit of time to get used to and to work out how to control it, but once you have worked it out it’s loads of fun!! If you do have high ceilings in your house, it would be an advantage - he doesnt so you are limited on the height that you can fly it to!! A great toy - fun for all ages whether watching or playing!!

6 out of 7 faulty! still, i really like it.
although this is the best toy(flies forward yes-and its fast) i’ve ever had i must admit that out of the 7 pieces i received only 1 works perfectly. i originally ordered 2 and since then kept sending them back for replacement. i really thank amazon for their service. free shipping back!

-fault on 4: keeps spinning left!

i only got one which perfectly works.

by the way i still got a faulty one lying however i am actually embarrassed to send it back for replacement. but i guess i’ll have to.

oh yes, the legs of of all the helicopters werent straight.

i guess that the series i got had a serious manufacturing fault. or is it just me?

still, if your one works trust me you’ll have so much fun with it. flies forward yes. only a few low price helicopters can do that on the market. all the 2 channels are boring!

Huge fun, but slightly erratic
Technically very clever, this is an evolution of the tiny Picoo Z 2-channel machine that has taken the world by storm.
What they have added to this is a ‘Forward’ button that gives a surge of forwards movement to the otherwise very slowly moving helicopter.
But….
This surge forward comes after a slight but unpredictable delay, and the yaw control (left/right steering) on this machine is less good than on the Picoo Z.
So you might have this little machine hovering, and want to buzz it across the room, but it is twisting to the right, OK?
If you try to stop it twisting the sticky yaw control can set it spinning left, and the trim is not a lot of help in this - unlike the older Picoo Z. If you take pot luck and wait until it lines up on your destination, the forward button may delay enough until it aims you at the wall!
So it can be a bit of a lottery, but still great fun.
Fortunately it seems just as tough as the Picoo Z.
The tiny actuator mechanism for the ‘Forward’ control is jewel like and a very neat bit of model engineering, significant educational value, as always - but the way the whole machine flies is not so good in the ways described. Pity.
Oh, and it has a remote controlled light on it. Might add fun to the arrival of the Xmas pud? Just don’t get too near the flames!
Still recommended, but for fun rather than precision flying.

Nice little flier, and great value
Got this because my PicooZ had long since died, and even though I’ve graduate since to a 4-channel co-axial, I missed the little guy. So, got this as a replacement, as I fancied something a little different looking.

As noted by another reviewer, you get no choice in which of the three infrared channels you will receive, which could cause problems if you want to use more than one at a time (is anyone at Amazon listening? Could we have a choice of the A,B or C versions, please?).

It flies great, better than my old PicooZ, but whether this is due to a better design, or simply that my original one got a bit mangled as I learnt, I have no idea: Maybe I had better buy a heli-style one as well, just for comparison purposes, of course (ahem!).

Comes with a spare tail rotor, which is very useful, and small weights, which can be applied to the nose, to increase forward speed (with 2-channel, there is no forward-reverse; only up-down and left-right spin).

Given how cheap these have now become, get one to play with if you’ve not bothered up until now: They will fly in a very small space, and will not damage anything you may hit. Outside is a no-no though, even a small breeze from an open window will put them off-course.

The Helicopter itself is a great toy, but if you want to fly with friends I suggest you go to a proper shop as here you cannot select which channel you want.

‘using infrared triband technology on 3 channels (A, B & C) three helicopters can be flown at the same time!’

Although the controller can be flipped between channels, the Insecta Helicopter is fixed to a preset one.

Therefore this statement is completely false, and the only reason why I would not recommend buying this product here.

No staying power
A great idea, and it was huge fun for about 2 weeks. BUT then the tail rotor needed replacing and in the removal and refitiing procedure suddenly it didn’t rotate at all. So one helicopter down… The next one lasted about a month longer. I don’t think that’s value for money. Toys like scaletrix and lego still work after 20 years!

Very Cool!
These two helicopters are brilliant i stood on one the day after i recieved them, and to be honest i found it increadably easy to fix. after straightening the roter axl and putting the thing back together i could barely tell the difference. mine are still going now even 3 and a half months later, tho i cant help but wander if i should move on to an X gyrator or a 3 channel… i would however rate the single one of these as they are a little easyer to control, and do not waight them until you have got to grips with them!

future helicopter pilots - start here
This is so much fun. I was unsure how durable the copters would be, but my fears were ungrounded, since they survived Christmas and New Year with only superficial damage. The laser zapping element adds to the delight, and is definitely worth the extra money. For indoor use only, because even on the calmest days they soars away, outside.
I would definitely recommend this for young and old alike.

Fun but hard to fly
I’ve never had a toy helicopter before, so have no skills in flying. Had it a few days and able to make it hover. Not mastered manouvers yet. Probably me, but seems quite jerky at times (i.e. reduce power a bit and it sinks to the floor fast!!)

Good fun, and has survived lots of crashes so far. Comes with a Spare tail rotor in the packet too.

Fun until it breaks
This is an awesome but not particularly durable helicopter. I bought mine today and it was very hard to get the hang of… it kept hitting walls. When I thought I’d cracked it after about an hour of flying, it veered into a curtain, smacked into the ground and one of the rotors partly snapped. There being no suitable spare parts, it is now totally out of control whenever I try to fly it. Having bought several Silverlit helicopters, all of which have broken in the first three days, I would not really recomend getting this unless you have a large flying area, are very experienced, have spare parts or enough money to buy another.

A man’s toy
Fun once you know how to use it, but is very hard to get the hang of. Would probably be too hard for young children - and too dangerous! Good for grown men who like their toys!

A Pleasure to Demonstrate After Some Practice to Gain Skill
I can recommend this model without reservation. It is worth taking the trouble to learn to trim the controls for ease of handling in the air. It helps if you have some experience of flying model helicopters such as the simpler 2 channel Picoo or even a simulator on a PC. Once control sensitivity and orientation is mastered, this model is quite easy to fly.

Landings are tricky with the narrow wheelbase and will invariably tip over sideways, except on smooth shiny surfaces.

I’ve only had this toy for a couple of hours at the point of writing this mini review but I felt sufficiently enthused to report quickly my findings.
